Jahpoo's top items at Buc-ee's

Let’s face it, there’s no better roadside stop than the ol’ reliable Buc-ee’s. That moment when you’re parched, cruising down the highway, and see “Buc-ee’s in 2 miles” you know exactly where you’re pulling off.

In honor of our love for the road, between trade shows, delivering product, and road warrior-ing while chasing waterfowl, we figured we’d create a post on our top menu items a Buc-ee’s. Because if you’re running the flyway with your Jahpoo motion decoy in the back, you deserve the best eats along the way.

Starting off with our first recommendation, the Soda Fountain. Not sure what it is, if they're using CO₂, NO₂, or a combination of both, but they've figured it out. You can’t beat a soda from the fountain. Nothing is as elite as the taste of a smooth Dr Pepper or crispy Coca-Cola. Always gotta go with a large—it’s the right mix where you get the double-stack on the Styro, but it’s not too top-heavy when in hand. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the fountain drink options they have available. The sweet tea isn’t a bad option either—be sure to capitalize on a lemon wedge if you do.

Next up, we’ve got the Fudge. Being a stickler for chocolate, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge is one like no other. The nuttiness of the peanut butter paired with the rich chocolate roots almost tastes like the quality of the ingredients is something as authentic as if they’re from the Amazon. Certainly recommend grabbing a slice of the fudge next time you are in and you are needing the feeling of a big warm hug.

Let’s face it, not all things you eat have to be sweets. Buc-ee's also serves as a great lunch/dinner stop while on the road. You can get food, diesel, DEF, use the restroom, air the dog-all in one. Known for their BBQ options, their Three Meat Sandwich, a mountain of turkey, sausage, and brisket smothered in BBQ sauce-is one not to be missed. With a deep passion for Texas BBQ, the BBQ at Buc-ee’s certainly lives up to par. Apart from the Three Meat, the Pulled Pork Sandwich serves as an advocate for FREEDOM as well. If you're looking to veer away from fried chicken, greasy hamburgers, or pizza, the BBQ options at Buc-ee’s are certainly a notable item to take into consideration while hitting the road.

Nothing beats beef jerky, let’s face it. Whether you're sitting in the blind, working at the house, or going for a cruise on the highway, nothing hits quite like a good beef snack. One item not to be abused, but certainly notable, is the Ghost Pepper Beef Jerky. Consumed in moderation, the idea of it being "Ghost Pepper" truthfully isn’t that bad. And if you’re one of those that can’t eat spice—suck it up. It’s too good not to try. Once you can look past the heat and acknowledge the underlying flavor, just go back in and get another pack. You’ll be happy you did. This one’s a certified Jahpoo snack pick.

The Banana Pudding... WOW. Just pure happiness in a cup. Originally recommended through a social media post, then executed in person at the next Buc-ee’s stop. Like—wholly cowwho knew that vanilla pudding, bananas, Nilla Wafers, and whipped cream could be so good? The thing about this: it all comes in a single-serving to-go cup with a lid. You get a spoon, go out, sit on the tailgate, and take that first bite... and just wow. No words. Don’t talk to me. We’re eating banana pudding. Would this be considered a Jahpoo snack pick? 100%. It’s a road trip dessert that hits different, especially after a long day chasing birds or setting up the spread.

The Breakfast Biscuit. Now, being some boys from the South, we love ourselves some good biscuits. That’s one thing Buc-ee’s has capitalized on here. It’s classic Jahpoo morning fuel—built for road trips, early blinds, and big days ahead. The biscuit is like one of those thick, flaky, buttermilk masterpieces grandma used to make growing up. Simply put, we’re just suckers for a good biscuit. And when you throw on some bacon, eggs, and cheese? Gah dang, that’s good. Get this with a coffee, the Hippo Taco (below), and a Celsius for later in the blind—GG’s.

Breakfast tacos are something else. Being raised in South Texas, breakfast tacos were something we grew up on. After moving out of South Texas and into Central Texas, the quality of the tacos succumbed to a lack of authenticity. One morning hunting in Eagle Lake, TX, we were blessed to stop at the ol’ Buc-ee’s there prior to heading out to the blind. That’s where we were introduced to the Hippo Taco—a bacon, egg, potato, cheese, and bean taco. Hit it with some of the green salsa, and shew. That taco right there is one of the closest things we’ve had to South Texas since leaving. An absolute must-have Jahpoo Certified snag when stopping during early mornings, long drives or for just simply stopping for breakfast.

My God Almighty, the Coconut Cream Pie Cup. Ultimately, if there’s one menu item you're going to try after us spending 45 minutes typing up this review, please make it the Coconut Cream Pie Cup. I may not need to stop at Buc-ee’s, or I may be five minutes from my destination, but if I’m about to pass a Buc-ee’s, I will pull over to get one. Originally, I intended to grab a banana pudding, but mistakenly snagged a Coconut Cream Pie Cup. I ran to the truck, eager to eat it, slung the lid off, took a deep dive with the spoon, and took my first bite and my initial reaction was like, What the F***. Caught off guard that it wasn’t banana pudding, but quickly relieved to find it was coconut cream pie, I fell in love. It was what I imagine to be like my dog’s first bite of real food that wasn’t dehydrated kibble—two layers of graham cracker crumble and pie filling with pieces of coconut and a dollop of whipped cream. There is simply nothing else that compares. This one’s the sweet tooth side of Jahpoo road culture. We stop for ducks and coconut cream pie. It’s wild, but we promise you it’s worth it.

I don’t know why we decided to write up this blog post on Buc-ee’s—probably inspired by a photo, then led by respect and admiration for the Coconut Cream Pie Cup—but we felt like we’d do the quality establishment some justice. Just wanted to share with everyone how we like to spend our dollar when we stop in. (BTW, 16 lbs of ice is $2.99.)

Whether you’re chasing waterfowl, visiting Grandpa to talk duck hunting, or taking the bird dog to the kennel and pulling off at a Buc-ee’s, we hope this helps you make the most out of your travels, and ultimately, have a good road trip.

It’s all part of the Jahpoo lifestyle—hunt hard, eat well, and never skip a good gas station snack.

Shoot straight. Love your dog. Stay Jahpoo.
