We've run the decoy in high wind scenarios of 10+ MPH with no issues. When wind starts to exceed 10 MPH, we recommend turning the decoy off in the resting position. It can sustain higher wind gusts using the Self Righting Attachment.

We've tested the Flyway Deputy in 2.5ft wake from a nearby boat — the decoy did not tip over. We've also had dogs run, jump, and swim right next to the motion decoy with zero problems. If you experience issues from shipping mishandling, the Self Righting Attachment can stabilize its motion.

We've run the Flyway Deputy in all types of water — flooded timber, flooded rice, and sludge. It runs through it all.

We ran a test where the decoy sustained a continuous run time of 3.5 hours at 12 degrees Fahrenheit. The only issue was ice buildup in the air vent hole behind the head at the 3.5hr mark — simply knock the ice off and continue. We designed the Flyway Deputy to be the best motion decoy in the industry.

The Flyway Deputy is 100% waterproof. As long as you do not flood the internal compartment, there will be no damage. The internal components are primarily plastic, besides the motor and PCB/wires. After use in saltwater — just like your other decoys — rinse off with freshwater.

Yes — 100% waterproof. Each decoy is tested before paint and delivery. We've burst-tested the Flyway Deputy to a capability of 10ft below the water surface. As long as you don't submerge it to 10ft or point-blank a shotgun at it, the decoy will stay waterproof.

The Flyway Deputy is made of HDPE plastic — highly durable and resistant. We do not recommend shooting decoys or shooting at decoys at point blank. HDPE is very tough, but unfortunately bulletproof plastic doesn't exist yet. If it does, please call us immediately.

Learned from our buddies and recommended by others — matte black stands out in your spread. If you fly a drone over your decoys, especially on sunny days, matte black stands out the most at distance. We created the Matte Black Flyway Deputy to add diversity to your spread, and it comes at a lower price point since the painting process is simpler.

When waterfowl are feeding in the same motion as the Flyway Deputy, they create a white flash. We've painted the bottom of the decoy white to mimic that natural phenomenon — recommended to us and observed through real-world waterfowl behavior.

Currently we offer two options — Mallard Drake and Matte Black. The Mallard Drake was our first choice because it's the most versatile species across the U.S., from the PNW to the marshes of South Texas. We plan to release additional species in the future. We accept returns within 30 days of the original purchase date — but only if the product is unused, still in its original packaging, and returned in new, resalable condition with proof of purchase. If a decoy or battery has been removed from its original packaging, powered on, placed in the field, exposed to water, or used in any way — it is considered USED and is no longer eligible for return. Only the Flyway Deputy decoy and the rechargeable battery are eligible for return. All other merchandise sales are final. Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs.
